Every commercial fisherman I know, and a lot of my Coast Guard friends, wear a St. Christopher medal.

When I was fishing in Alaska, I wore my Maori bone fish hook all the time... never took it off... it was just threaded onto a piece of dirty twine that I picked up off the deck... tied on to my neck... didn't come off until the twine broke over a year later.

At other times of my life I have also worn a coyote tooth and an American Indian bear fetish.

I'm not a really religious person by any stretch, more abstractly spiritual, and these things were kind of reminders of a simpler, more pure, way of looking at the world around you.

I never take it off, and except for a few times that the chain has broken it's always been on me or in a pocket. I started wearing it when I got my second motorcycle. I read about a Leather Jacket company that was sewing them inside the pockets of their jackets. By the time I ordered mine, they had stopped. So I ordered one the next day for me and my girlfriend.
