New idea for moderation.

Please don't take this as an insult P4B, but what exactly do y'all look for when approving new members? I thought the reason new memberships had to be approved was because someone had to review the IP adress and stuff to make sure it wasn't a banned user. Granted, I'm pretty ignorant on this subject, but it just seems like there are a lot of people with multible accounts, or simply banned members finding their way back here.

Or do y'all just give some people a second chance with a new name?

I don't know, it just seems kind of pointless that members have to be reviewed before they are allowed to sign in.

If you don't mind me asking... how many accounts do the mods deny in an average a week?

We do check over the IP's but there are times when a user goes to a friends house........some other terminal. I saw this from a different site, this dude used his buddies computor....a good member in fact, but because of the matching I.P. he managed to get the good dude booted out of here also.

The attitude always eventually shines through it seems. There are some that sneak back in and stay low and mellow....that's all cool, glad to see them back in that fashion. BUT then there are the others...

As for users denied.......how many banned members are pissed off and want to return in here flaming is the best question. Goes from week to week.....

As for myself, WHENEVER a member gets into a situation I look at the IP's just to see if there is any relationship to a past member........hell, I even gave this one a chance to mellow down but instead he posted this garbage in feedback. LOL.......is there a full moon?

I'd like to see a section with stories about bannings, and such - not a "discussion" as much as a history and chronicle of various insanity on this board. It might be amusing - especially the events surrounding certain people that are permanently not permitted to post, or those who left in anger.

If I posted some of the "LOVE" e-mails that I've received I'd probably be banned for the content.

Sounds like a very tedious job. Another forum I was a part of made you indentify the location you are logging in from. I'm not sure what the purpose behind that was... but it would log your IP adress for that visit along with your description of it.

ie.
work, school, home, friends house, etc. I'm not sure how it helped anything, but you may see something in that. I'm not sure. It was kind of annoying having to type the location in everytime I logged in though.

Just for the record; banning is the last thing that we enjoy doing in here. EVERY member adds a bit of personality in one way or another to the forums, it just seems that some have the Dr. Jeckle/ Mr. Hyde shit going on.

Not only that but there are times that you can see that it's going to create b.s. e-mails, flack on the forum, etc.....quite the headache to say the least. BUT, if we elected to walk away from these situations would we really be doing what we're suppose to be?
