Good one, BA!

Reminds me of the time in residency when I picked up the phone on the intermediate-care cardiology unit. This was at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, a huge, urban hospital. It was someone calling from HR wanting to know "the breakdown of our unit staff by age and sex." This person really needed the unit clerk, who wasn't there that afternoon. I couldn't help myself. I said "From what I can tell, age and sex aren't so much contributing to the breakdown up here. But drugs and alcohol are really taking a toll on the place." The nursing supervisor, who happened to be passing by, didn't think it was as funny as I did.
