CPR training
Good one, BA!
Reminds me of the time in residency when I picked up the phone on the intermediate-care cardiology unit. This was at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, a huge, urban hospital. It was someone calling from HR wanting to know "the breakdown of our unit staff by age and sex." This person really needed the unit clerk, who wasn't there that afternoon. I couldn't help myself. I said "From what I can tell, age and sex aren't so much contributing to the breakdown up here. But drugs and alcohol are really taking a toll on the place." Years ago, my job was offering the employees a class in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), with “hands on” training. I wanted to take it, but was worried about the physical stuff, and expressed to a co-worker, “I’d be happy to take the class, but before I sign up I want some idea about which girls and women I‘m going to be doing mouth to mouth with”.
