    CPR training

Another thread here reminded me of a story.

Years ago, my job was offering the employees a class in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), with “hands on” training. I wanted to take it, but was worried about the physical stuff, and expressed to a co-worker, “I’d be happy to take the class, but before I sign up I want some idea about which girls and women I‘m going to be doing mouth to mouth with”.

She laughed and said, “Breuk, they use dummies!”.

I replied, “I don’t care how smart they are - I just want to know what they look like!”

    CPR training

    Good one, BA!

Reminds me of the time in residency when I picked up the phone on the intermediate-care cardiology unit. This was at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, a huge, urban hospital. It was someone calling from HR wanting to know "the breakdown of our unit staff by age and sex." This person really needed the unit clerk, who wasn't there that afternoon. I couldn't help myself. I said "From what I can tell, age and sex aren't so much contributing to the breakdown up here. But drugs and alcohol are really taking a toll on the place." The nursing supervisor, who happened to be passing by, didn't think it was as funny as I did.

CPR is a valuable thing to learn, you never know when you can be a hero and save someones life. I took an introductory class, so I know how to do CPR, but Im not actually "registered" to perform CPR on a person.

im registered, but have never had to use it.

is it wrong that sometime i wish i was at a restaurant eating and there is a really rich guy there and all of the sudden BAM!!! he starts choking. i rush over do the heimlich, save his life, and get some money from him.

of course its illegal to ask for money for trying to save someones life, but i think thats only if they die.
