*Super New Grower* (Truly knows nothing, please help with info on lights)

Hello, I'm a completely new grower to any type of plant. I have never really grown anything. All I plan to have are several small indica plants in my closet. I take it I will now need to buy a fluorescent light. Can somebody give me some specific models that might be good for this? Please help : (. Thank you all, Peace~

    Hello,

Here is a google link for grow lights. Google link

Any of the lights that are shown there will be good for growing. If you decide to go with fluorescents make sure to buy as many as possible. I would suggest purchasing a Metal Halide (MH) for vegging your plants, and a High Pressure Sodium (HPS) for flowering.

Being completely new to this hobby it is best to just start reading every piece of info that you can. Just read, ask a couple questions, read, etc. Then try to grow. If you live in a country where it is ileagal to grow then you should make sure that you are educated on the subject quite thoroughly. This way you will not be wasting your time and risking your freedom for a mediocre harvest.

I welcome you to what I think is the best hobby around. Once you start reading and getting into the forums you won't be able to stop. Then next thing you know you will be answering all the questions.

    Happy Holidays.

    Peace

Hey student thanks for the info. I dont even know what vegging or flowering means heh. When I saw super new I mean it, : ). I will get into the "art" of it once I get out of the place I'm living right now, but for the mean time I want to have just a little closet operation. I know I'm not gonna get the dankest shit like that, but hey. What all will I need to get ready. Thanks again.

    Hello,

Here is a link to a site hosted by the author of a great cultivation book. Here is a link to the site Cannabisbook.com.

I strongly suggest that you make this book your first purchase. It will set you out strait, and will prove to be an excellent guide to reffer back to as needed.

Are you growing in a place where others can not find out about it, if so you should be told that if you were to get busted, whoesever house it is gets in to trouble also. Even if they have no knowledge of the act.

If it is cool for you to grow in your current location, then I would suggest in your case, buy as many four foot dual tube fluorescent fixtures as will fit in your closet, I would also suggest purchasing a couple high output flurescent fixtures (125 watters), if the budget allows.

You will need seeds, buckets, soil (also perlite, vermiculite), (or hydro equipment), nutrients, a couple small fans to circulate the air, and I guess thats all that is comming to mind at the moment.

    Happy Holidays

    Peace

Yes, thanks student. So do you think this is THE book that I should buy? Yes, the other residents will know of what is going on in the house. How much do you think all of this will wind up costing me? Oh, and I would like to be able to save a little space in the closet for other things cause I do not have that much space : (. Thank you.

    Hello,

I do think the book is very good. I read it not to long back and thought that it was quite good. It covers a wide span all throughout the grow cycles of the plant. From seed to bud.

How big is the space that you desire to dedicate to growing?

    Peace

    Hello,

One four foot fluorescent light fixture from wal-mart costs around 8 dollars. I would go with 5 of them for a total of 40+tax.

Then the floro tubes cost around 5 for two of them (I think I can't really remember). At two per fixture that is 25+tax.

Containers can be had for little if you can find clean buckets somewhere. I am not sure on their cost really, lets say two bucks each for 5 gallon buckets, for a total of 5 buckets. 10 dollars.

Soil plus amendments will run around 20-50 depending on quantity and quality. Average 35 dollars.

Lights and Fixtures: 65 + tax
    Buckets: 10 + tax
    Soil: 35 + tax

For a total of 110 bucks.

I am sure that you can find better deals and such, I am just guesstimating.

I hope this helps. I am off to bed.

    Happy Holidays.

    Peace
