Newbie needs help PLEASE BigBud Afghani
Hi all,
Im hoping for some advise as this is my first main grow and only grown LowRyder previously. Im growing 2 BigBud Afghani plants which i planted on 20th Jan and sprouted out of the ground on the 24th. I was originally growing them under 2 125w CFL's on 24hr light, mainly because I still had a couple of lowryder flowering. I now have them both under 1 250w HPS and 16 hr daylight and they seem to be doing ok.
This is now where im lost.
They have both grown pre flowers so im sure they are female. They both seem fairly healthy but showing brown marks on the tips of the leaves and also a couple of the bottom leaves have browned and died. Not sure if this is normal. The plants are now 17 inches tall. Also how much light should they be getting now and when to start reducing the light.
Any help will be most appreciated

How long have you had them under hps? The the leave drooping could be from that. Or it could just be your plants need a drink of water. When your plant leaves start to droop like that usually your plants are screaming "Give me a drink please!" lol.
My guess as the leaf tip burn is either your grow area is to hot(whats the temp at the top of the plants) , or there is minor nute burn (whats you feeding schedule and what strenght and fert do you use).
Your plants should be under 18-24 hours of light to Veg them , and 12/12 cycle to flower them (with 12 hours of complete darkness no light leaks).
I would throw in one of those 125 watt cfl's in the flower chamber to balance out the spectrum better and give them more light more light is always good, and plants like mixed spectrums. Just have more of the reddish spectrum during flower (2200-2700k) , more blueish spectrum (5000-6500k) during vegg.

Looks like you either a). overferted them or b) have a salt build up from the nutes you are using. Use plain water for a couple of waterings. If they are already 17 inches, you may want to repot and low stress train...LST. That is tying the main stalk down to expose more budsites to light. Then after the transplant seems to be okay, put them in flower. They can and probably will double if not triple in size once put into flower...
They look pretty good, and the browning doesn't seem to be that bad....

Ok thanks guys.
It maybe to much fert thats doing the leaves. ~I'll cut back on it for a bit and see if theres an improvement. The temp at the top of the plants is around the low 70's as have a desktop fan constently blowing cross them.
I have just planted them in new pots so not sure if i should do it again. Do you think the pots they are in are to small?
I will def add the CFL or maybe both to the cab to add extra colour range, cant hurt can it.
Also the plants really did need a drink, ive been away for a couple of days so they went without. All watered up now hopefully be fine again in morning and i'll take a couple more pics of them.
Theyve been under HPS for about 4.5 weeks now. Made a big difference when i put them under the HPS.
Do you think its time to go 12/12 now?
Cheers guys

The drooping could have been from the water, and it sounds like it. BUT the leaves can do that when you're rootbound too.
