All employers ranging from large companies to small day-labor-hiring outfits would be required to check ID cards and adhere to specific hiring practices. Mexican, Canadian and U.S citizens could live and work in other NA union countries under visas and under the oversight of their employers, whoâ??d be subject to alien hiring restrictions. Health and human services would be covered by citizensâ?? native countries or employers, not picked up by the countries into which people had immigrated. In rare instances where services were emergently provided to aliens/immigrant workers by host countries, those expenses would be billed back to the alienâ??s country or employer of origin. Free trade and regulated but open borders would benefit the three union countries in various ways, particularly with prescription drug and buyable good prices, and it would help liberalize our own countryâ??s cannabis laws. A union approach would vastly improve the standard of living in Mexico, which would help stem the tide of immigrants coming to live and work in the U.S. The U.S. and Canada would have to help Mexico get its crime and corruption problems under control initially, but that could be done.
    Howdy Birdgirl!

    NORTH AMERICAN UNION??

Are you positive that you want that, do you want the United States to slowly fade into obscurity? Of course I am not going to agree with everything that you say, although I do like many of your ideas. But this has to be one of your worst. I would rather sacrifice the right to smoke ganja (if I had it to begin with) than to relinquish our sovereignty and jeopardize our national identity.

Sarbannes-Oxley is raping corporations as it is, if we don't consider reducing its strength, America may loose its competitive edge. Corporations are now considering going private because compliance is so difficult. Tyco, Enron, etc. did hurt our nation, but that does not justify punishment of all public companies and their leaders. I think there is probably a place in the middle that I would be comfortable with.

Each year, 1.3 million women in the United States undergo an abortion. Abortions have become a convenience for irresponsible people to avoid responsibility. The sex ed argument does not fly with me...I went to a very conservative high school (Barbara Bush MS, Ronald Reagan HS), I go to Texas A&M, and my parents really didn't tell me shit about sex. This did not turn out to be problem...I know all that I need to know about contraceptives and I have known these things since probably the 6th grade. Ignorance should not be accepted as an excuse. Information flows as freely as it ever has...giving out handfuls of condoms hardly seems to be a better alternative to abstinence only education, which I will admit has become an extremely partisan issue.

Just my two cents...Happy 420 all!

Something my dad always talks about if he got to choose would be to change all laws so that they aren't written in legalese, but ENGLISH! If you can't understand the laws that are supposedly written for you, how can you be held accountable for it? Making lawyers so damn powerful... many laws today have no reason for existing.

    I believe in:

Civil Liberty first and foremost. The government should stay out of the personal lives of Americans.

-All recreational drugs should be legalized, with the tax from them going to rehabilitation of hard drug addicts.
-All victimless crimes(including prostitution) should be phased out of the lawbooks
    -Homosexual marriage should be legalized.
-Patriot Act repealed, Military Commissions Act repealed.

    I believe in fiscal responsibility
-putting forth balanced budgets is vital. A nation that spends money it does not have is always riding on the brink of economic crisis.
    -Welfare reform
-I believe the income tax should not be lowered, but repealed altogether and the IRS abolished. This could be replaced with a federal sales tax. The current tax system penalizes Americans for generating wealth and damages the economy. Of course this would require cutting back on spending, which should be done anyway, and would be easy to do.

I believe in a foreign policy of non-intervention.
Our current foreign policy only stirs up more resentment towards Americans and is a significant contributing factor to terrorism against the United States.
"Commerce with all nations, alliance with none, should be our motto."
    -Thomas Jefferson
