    Most overrated band?

These are not my favorite bands nor do I listen to classic rock often. I have taken many music theory classes and presuming you know more then I goes against what you were saying in your last post. I listen to lots of music and Im not going to show off my equipment nor my colossal collection. Just stating that they were also VERY talented musicians. I am listening to The Roots right now. Not classic rock by any means.
And yes I do think highly of my self when it comes to music.

As for truly overrated bands, yeah, I have to put Nirvana on the list... if it weren't for all the attention they got after Kurt Cobain's death, they would have been absolutely ECLIPSED by the talents of Soundgarden and Alice in Chains, who were FAR more worthy contemporaries.
Oh... and for solo artists... Geez, come ON, ELVIS FREAKIN' PRESLEY...
I cant believe there are so many people on here who dont like Nirvana...Nirvana is one of my favorite bands of all time. You are correct, Alice in Chains and Soundgarden were both technically superior to Nirvana in nearly every way, but Kurt Cobain had incredible song writing skills. Maybe this is just a matter of personal preference, but just hearing their music is an emotional experience for me. It also makes me like them even more to know that they didnt write their music to make money or gain popularity...every band nowadays always seems to feel like they have to assert that theyre not 'mainstream' or havent 'sold out' or some other shit like that to confirm to everyone that theyre a legitimate music group. Nirvana didnt do that, they made music, and they didnt give a shit whether or not anyone listened or understood, or thought they were incredible musicians, or thought Kurt's voice was good. they were THE band that embodied what has now become the trend of 'going against the grain' or whatever it is that the bullshit pop-punk bands today say to make them seem cutting edge. Anyways, thats the end of my rant, but listening to Nirvana is like a kick in the face, in th ebest way possible. Someone here has to understand...
