    Most overrated band?

blues is not dead. it is alive and well. in fact, maybe there is no audience that wants to here it outside of me and a few random people i know online who i trade cds with, but i can tell you i have 60+ blues and blues rock albums all made in the last decade that are excellent. to make my point about the audience, i could probably list every single one and no one on this entire board will have heard of them unless they remember a name or two from a previous post. jazz is far from dead as well. im not as big a jazz fan but i have severall good jazz albums that are of this decade and can safely assume there is a lot out there. i get sick of hearing these music purists talk shit about how music is dead. what in the fuck is music for music's sake? do you even know what you mean when you are saying it? please tell me. all the blues players i listen to are pretty unknown and it can't be for the money's sake. and i would like you to look one of them in the eye and say it is for the sake of pride. it is about emotion and playing what you feel and need to play. the only critique you can make on blues today is there is too much rock some, which really isn't a problem unless you are a narrowminded asshole.

so i am not going to speak for anything outside of blues and jazz, but neither are dead, and music as a whole is not dead, so please take your head out of your ass before you make any more simultaneously arrogant and ignorant remarks you miserable piece of shit.

Here's a question for the music buffs... how many of Elvis' songs were actually written by Elvis?
im not a music buff really or someone that knows anything about elvis, but i'd guess 0

and i stand by what i said, u2 was overrated. they brought politics into music. i get it. they werent the first or the last. none of the band members is a great musician and that goes for bono as a vocalist as well, all decent, and the whole is not greater than the sum of the parts. decent band(though not one that appeals to my tastes) yes, i give them that. deserving of being one of the biggest rock bands ever? that's just insulting to the people that really deserve it.

i was going to edit the miserable piece of shit remark out, but i can't now. i don't know if saying this m akes a difference. what the hell, i meant it. anyone that says music died when jazz died is a miserable fuck.

might as well say 99% of bands that have ever produced music. there is as much or more good music being made now than ever. you have to look. please, there is a saying that goes something like only wise men know how ignorant they really are. that isnt it but that is the general point, and please realize how ignorant you are to all the quality music being made. im through saying the same thing.

its silly to say who is the most overrated, because if music speaks to you, and you enjoy it, there.s no need to put it on any kind of scale. stop rating, stop hating, just enjoy and respect.

the beatles and pink floyd are 2 of my favorite bands, i think they.re geniuses. but i respect those of you who say that they.re overrated, i just think you.re wrong.

I think most rap music in general is overrated nowadays. No offense to rap fans out there, but so much of it is just so damn monotonous. There are a few groups that I've enjoyed over the years, but the stuff I hear today is mind-bogglingly repetitious and droll. "Smoking blunts, doin' blow, smackin' bitches, yo yo yo...", it all seems the same to me. Don't get me wrong, there's still some talent in the rap scene... but it almost seems like having talent has gone out of style.
