I know eh!!!! I can into this thread expecting to see Pink Floyd and Beatles and the such, but never Tool!! FYI, Tool and Pink Floyd are my two favourite bands, and everytime I listen to it, it's like the first time I'm hearing it...just amazing.

We had a local radio station do a countdown of the greatest guitare players ever, rated by the listeners. and the edge was rated in the top 10. Give me a break. The Edge only knows maybe 10 chords and plays them over and over. And he is on record as saying that! If it were not for Bono's song writting and singing ability they would be nothing.

Wow this has been the most unbelievably retarded thread I have ever read. Out of all the crap that is out there right now, people are saying pink floyd and the beatles are the most overrated bands. How about anything thats on mtv now or van halen or anything emo, now that is true crap. For stoners I thought you guys would know more about music. Floyd and the beatles became legends because they actually know how to compose songs and play their instruments instead of just strumming chords like fallout boy and other completely terrible bands like them. You guys do realize that floyd recorded more than just darkside and the wall right? Go listen to meddle or animals and then try to tell me their overrated.

After careful consideration I like to add Miles Davis, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Herbie Hancock, Coltrane, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Frank Zappa, Johnny Cash, Funkadelic, Muddy waters, B.B. King, Wu-tang, Soundgarden, Black Sabbath, a tribe called quest, the talking heads, and the roots to this completely retarded list

i like the way that most of these bands n this list are the succesful ones that sold a lot of records and made a lot of money. now i know that making money does not equal talent. but a lotof these mentioned are bands that changed the sound of rock. take for example hendrix. first person to use effects on the guitar extensivly. the pedals and effects he used are standard now. before a band makes it big people will love them then when they hit it big they become overrated sell outs.

overrated is an opinion. for instance if you live in place where all you hear abou is one guy then he becomes overrate to you. but introduce him somewhere alse and he is great.

in my opinion kid rock is way overrated as is ANY rapper (not saying kid rock is a rapper).

as far as the grateful dead they are provaby one of the most underrated bands in rock. i can understand tho that opinion bein from someone from cali tho. they created an entire genra of music. but yet on mainstream radio they may play 2 or 3 songs by them

I was being sarcastic in my last post, but did somebody actually put down hendrix as the most overrated artist (didn't read all the posts). Now that is just foolish. Worst. Thread. Ever.
