Check the FAQ there is a basic how to use CO² there. As for the scientific explanation and reason well I feel it would be a waste of time to type out the details.

hey bro, I'm a beginner but none the less I thought the question was fine. I to have wondered if you could use paint ball co2 tanks. Do not see why it's much different than any other tank method. Anyway I to wonder about Co2. I guess I would like to try it just not sure if I could, now. Anyway think its a good thread that we can all pick a little up from.

theoretically with a 600w hps and 2 150w cfls this method might work? or am i still misguided. thanks.

I'd like to apologize for being an asshole. I'm a noob. I DO however try and conduct a fair amount of research before coming out and asking sophomoric questions, which is not to say that I don't from time to time...its unavoidable, Noobs just can't help it! But if we look into the issues we're raising before we raise them, we'll further the discourse rather than running in circles around the the same BS and regurgitating FAQ's.

As I'm typing this, I realize that I did the same thing that got me all P O'd at you in Plant Probs last night!!! I asked a question that with a little research I could have answered myself, or at least narrowed down to a more interesting, poignant query. Now I feel like the 'tard..a hypocritical one at that/

Once again, sorry man, and if you've got your grow dialed in by all means do it up!

I heard a cheap trick to distribute co2 if your not doing a big grow is to buy carbonated water and put it into a mister and spray it on the plants.cheap solution!

it kinda works. baking soda and vinegar used copiously, or dry ice in a cooler are more effective

Number one you're a noob and don't want to do your own research because you could pick up a highschool biology text and learn what co2 does for plants. Basically it takes in the CO2 breaks it apart, the takes the water it absorbs and breaks that apart then puts it all back togather using the energy from the lights to form sugars and the left over is "exhaled" as O2.
With the lights you have it could be benificial to use additional CO2, but you could also waste alot of time and energy. When you start a set up you need to allow enough ventilation and fans to draw fresh air in and move old air out, which would also drag out your added CO2 making it useless. So you need to find the happy balance so your plants have enough CO2 to make sugars as well as enough O2 for them to breath since they still need O2 to function. Then you need to figure out what to do during the dark period because without light there is no photosynthesis so there is no need for CO2, and O2 is needed for the plant to stay alive.
So if you think you know enough to set up an effective CO2 set up by all means. BUT DO YOUR BASIC RESERCH FIRST, especially when it is something a 6th grader can explain to you, or ask the right questions.
We had to do our own leg work time to do your own.

Yes theoretically it will work, you'll have to raise your room temps into the 80's (dangerous! but it's really the only way they get "pushed" into using more) but without having a proper measure of Co2 concentration, the plants would more than likely just get heat stress and not benefit fully or at all. Co2 is a very advanced treatment, requires hundreds of dollars of investment (timers, regulators, really an environment controller), and is easy to stress your plants unless done right. For now, I'd just use a few gallons of the sugar/yeast mix and maybe throw in a shamrock or two (for luck! haha); using a tank without the proper regulation will be a waste of your money.
