A regular ketchup bottle doesn't have to be exact. Yes yeast will die if it gets cold.

Ok, thanks alot Chrissy, Also I am only using 4 90w cfls, and one 100w hps (sometimes). This is all for one plant, do you think that the CO2 will help or even make a differance?

No clue. Couldn't hurt though. I would use that hps as much as possible though if you have it.

I've been using co2 enrichment for some time though I only recently really got it correct.Without the correct environment it'll do little good. You need a minimum 50 watts sq ft of HID light, air conditioning or a way to control temps, a dehumidifier and oscillating fans pointing upward ideally. You want temps at the canopy to be 85 degrees, this is most important and was really hard for me to swallow,it isnt anymore lol.A lazer thermometer is really a good thing if you're serious about co2 enrichment because you wont get it without spending a grand on equiptment anyway.I use a green air cd-6 and used a cyclestat for years(timer for frequency and duration of burn),that was a big mistake.A controller is almost a must to get real enrichment, fluctuations of more than 300 PPM arent desired and thats what happens with a cyclestat.A controller kicks in at a certain PPM instead of it being timed, huge difference! The cap PPM-3 for 500 dollars is the cheapest, period. It works well.Another thing I did wrong was use a dual hose portable thinking with the intake hose through the wall into the room next door,I wouldnt have any problem.Another big mistake, which took literally years to discover.I was somehow shooting my co2 right into the attic, the intake hose drew air but so did the unit, obviously. As soon as I deleted it my co2 stayed in the room, window ac's dont rob you of co2.When you get it correct you absolutely know it,they'll eat more grow faster and finish 10 days ahead on a 60 day strain. Its amazing,my yield also increased 25% the first time I got it right,I do perpetual grows of the same pheno's so I know what to expect.Paintball, yeast and all the other ideas just dont really do squat, its a difficult thing to get correct it takes time and definately good equiptment.

Ballast hit nail right smack on the head. Either do it correctly, or dont do it at all.
Pseudo C02 setups (mixing whatever and whatever) are about as useless as tits on a fish.
I built my room originally to use C02 (sealed air tight, duct dampers, etc), but my yield/watt I get now is fine for my purposes. Plus no tanks or burners that scare the shit out of me to fool with.
Check out how the big boys grow that use C02. You will see perfect setups with everything installed CORRECTLY. Not makeshift ghetto setups trying to spray seltzer water or what the fuck ever on plants to give a C02 boost.
If you smoke 3 ounces a day, grow plants in 5 gallon buckets or something. But before you ever consider C02, I am going to make a wild guess and say there are 150 other things you need to dial in first. Like growing your first plant.
Keep mothers and grow from clones. Thats the ticket for 95% of growers. Got one veggin while one is flowering. Down time is minimal when you do it right. Even that takes a few grows to get your timing perfected.
Well, thats my :twocents: on C02.
Keepin it green,

well the sugar/yeast method is cheap, useful (think white lightning), and can't hurt. i am using it. can't say i can complain. anyways, i have a related question
I have heard that co2 is best used at 90-95. first of all is this really true? and second of all if you were stuck with consistient temps that high, could co2 help reduce the stress from the heat?. the only reasoni ak is that someone mentioned somehwere on here that they jus turn up the co2 when it gets hot and the plants seem happy... i would just get a damn a/c, but considering that no buildings, commercial, residential or otherwise have a/c because it has never hit 80 outside.... i don't even think you can buy one around here. maybe wally world. fuck capitalists though.\"I think that in human evolution it has never been as necessary to have this substance LSD... It is just a tool to turn us into what we are supposed to be.\" - Dr. Albert Hofmann (imp: ) at his 100th birth day party, January 11, 2006

from what ive read plants can use more co2 when the temps are kept below 87 degrees so you may not see much benefit with temps as high as 90-95.
