I was taught that Native Americans govern themselves. They are bound by most of the laws all other Americans are, but have their own judicial system for crimes commited by their people on their land. I also learned the use of cannabis was allowed for the purpose of religious ritual.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find anything online to prove or discredit my above statement. My searches keep turning up results for Peyote in Native American life.
