do what you feel like doing. i was raised a catholic, my mom was a sunday school teacher, and i had 7 years of catholic education. what'd that do to me? it made me agnostic and i don't go to church anymore.
besides dieing is a part of life so don't worry so much about it

You don't need an organized religion. A lot of them have histories that make people wonder anyway, so you should just think of something that makes sense to you and go for it, changing things as you see fit. It's better to have a good idea than a suffocating requirement.

Do a brief study of a whole variety of religions so that you can say with confidence that their all pretty much fucked in their own special little way...and when your done with that try to live your life the best way you seem fit, cos one things for sure...we're all gonna die, after that...well after that is pretty much a mystery to us all...

I happen to be Christian, that's what works for me. You can look at it from any angle you like. When my son was younger and questioning his own beliefs, I discussed with him the soul as energy. Energy never disapates, it just changes form. Whether it is light to heat, or photosynthesis, energy continues. Now, the soul is energy, the core of humanity, it has to go somewhere. Whether you believe in "heaven and hell" literaly or not, we all must go on in some form. I read an article that explained we all lose 21 grams that are unexplainable at the time of death. Perhaps our soul, (Id, ego, energy force, whatever you want to call it) can account for this. At the very least remember that you are a link in the universe. Whatever effects you, effects the world, like the ripples in a pond when you toss in a rock. You're an intelligent thoughtful person, (or you wouldn't have such questions) and I'm glad to meet you! I myself am an atheist and i started thinking the way you are when i was about 12, and became an atheist when i was 13. All i can say is read up on some scientific points of view on the subject on religion instead of just reading religious points of view. If you only read about the religious side your just going to get one sided, biased points of view.
When i started losing my faith i was somewhat distraught but then i read about the big bang, evolution, and everything i could about space, and i found these explanations of our existence to be much more peaceful than any religious explanation. No worrying about choosing the right religion, or burning in hell for choosing the wrong one. And just think about this, no religion has any proof nor any evidence to support its claims, and i mean absolutly NONE. The theory of evolution and big bang theory have many experiments and observational data to back them, and an extremely large percentage of the scientific community as well. I suggest you look into these subjects since your thoughts are very similar to the ones i used to have.

    az666...the answers are within you.

If you feel that religion will give you the answers that you seek, then that is the answer.

No one else can tell you what is best for you.

Death is nothing to be afraid of...but it's not your time.
You have things that are yet undone, experiences that are still to be discovered.
I have met with the Grim Reaper, and the experience was unlike anything that I have felt before..not fear, not happiness..just...I dunno - it's hard to describe...a sense of overwhelming calm and acceptence...but it wasn't my time....

This might interest you...but remain openminded - the truth you seek, can only come from within - http://www.humantruth.org/basebook.htm

Find yourself, before you begin to look for anyone/anything else
