soil test means what?
hi all,
as i said before i'm new to indoor growing and have never really put much thought into soil test kits since i started last year but since moving to my new place my ladies have gone to sh!t.
serious problems serious actions right?lol so i picked up a CIL soil test kit.
i did the test but the instructions don't really explain the results to me. The results are as follows: PH: 7.0 (not acidic enough i know)N:n4, P: p2, K:k1.
if someone has used this type of kit before i could really use some help thankz.
ps; does anyone know if using different water(such as switching from natural spring to uv filtered)would cause problems with plants such as phospherous deficiency?
thanxs in advance

soil test means what?
I didn't know they made Soil test Kits... They sound interesting..
I bet you can find some info on their site on how to use the Kit.
I check my soil in a different way. I test the PH of Run Off Water from my Plants.
Basically you want the runoff to be between 6.5 and 6.8 Idealy... But this is pretty hard to get Somtimes no matter how hard you try.
I use ProMix. but I am switching to hortbec Soil.. Which im sure you ahve seen where you buy your CIL products (canadian Tire / Dominion whereever) Im switching to try it out because that soil is from QueBec and it has compost and Humas in it (Great PH Buffers as well as souce of Micronutrients) As well its OMRI tested (ALL ORGANIC) I am gonna try it out hopfully its better than ProMix. If im not successful with it I can go back to ProMix well see/////
So if you test your PH and lets say its 5.5Ph.. thats pretty dang low so when you water next time you shoudl try and get the PH up by Adding some PH up to your water.. If the Ph level your looking for is roufghly 7ph,,, and you runoff was 5.5 you want to water with PH'd water close to 8ph but not over... So that would help you bring up your Ph to the 6.5 range..
This is from my understanding a simple way to get you soils PH level back up into a range that you want.
Hope some of this makes sense,,, Im gonna look into that CIL kit.

soil test means what?
thanks so much guys
kdspecial- your way sounds a whole hell of a bunch easier than the test kits...less technicall at least. your right the test kits are available at just about any place with a decent gardening center. the one i picked up wasn't any more than 10$ and it measures PH, N, P, K.
tokudai- thanxz so much your literally a life saver...short of this i would have had to try and figures out a way to give CPR to my green gals LOL
