Part of it I think is Gender Identity. Body hair is more associated with being male and masculine as men have more pronounced body hair due to our higher androgen hormone levels (which encourage body hair growth). Women conversely have less body hair and less body hair seems to be more associated with being female and feminine.

Furthermore, the same hormones in men that cause body hair to grow causes our scalp hair to fall out (cruel joke of nature if you ask me). Whereas female hormones protect and promote hair growth on the scalp. Short hair is then thus associated with 'males' and long hair with 'females'.

Basically, sex is central to human evolution and survival so naturally such distinctions tend to be exaggerated. Same with breast size. Women with large breasts and hips = fertility from a naturalistic point of view so, from a evolutionary stand point, augmenting these features help females attract males. I'm sure you see where I'm going with this :thumbsup:
