    Experiences with fungus gnats...:(

Anyone know how dangerous they can be? It's hard for me to notice on mine, but I think only 1/3 of my plants have them..very small amount..see a couple of bugs every couple days. I think the fuckers loved those jiffy pellets..can someone tell me a quick fix for this..and if they can be life-threatening to my plants or not? thanks a lot..

The larvae feed on dead roots and leaves, but sometimes consume tender new roots.

Do not over water plants. Keep growing areas as dry as you can.

pyrethrin, an organic pesticide if you have a major problem.

Adult fungus gnats are more of an annoyance then anything else. When they lay the eggs and their babies eat your young roots is when you have a problem.

Root rot is what attracts them. You are likely over watering. Put those jiffy pellets in soil or other growing medium as soon as they sprout the seeds.

I have never lost plants becase of them so do not panic.

eric, thanks for stopping in...yeah, I'm trying to establish a water cycle more appropriate now...they're starting to get bigger and consume a bit more water though so I'm trying to keep it as dry as possible while not underwatering.., but I get really weary when I think they're underwatered..link in sig is to my grow...

Thanks for advice..will look into the organic pesticide...sounds to my liking.

saw a spray bottle laying around my house...diazinon..seems to say it kills just about anything but fungus gnats..most other common cannabis pests. Would this be safe for me to use on my flowers? if so how much should I spray around them...? won't use it if it's bad or anything but trying to avoid having to go out and buy something if I already have something that will do the same thing.

NO! NO! NO! Throw that shit away!

EPA: Pesticides - Diazinon: Phase Out of all Residential Uses of the Insecticide

    Just don't over water.

    pyrethrin or sticky hang traps.
