Master Kush/Crystal Limit....Can you top these?

Well I just today began germinating four Master Kush (feminized) and four Crystal Limit (regular) beans for my 8 waterfarms. I read that they are both short, stocky type plants.....anyone know how they respond to topping or should I just let them grow a single large cola?

I like to top as a rule to widen the plants out but I'm not really used to these blueblood seeds. Any tips appreciated.....also any tips on how they respond to hydro nutes. Thanks!!

what i would do is i would top 1 of each strain, and see how it reacts to the topping and go from there.

To increase yield .
That indoor mix from H/D we were talking about frank - you top it , it'll give you 8-10 new colas = like 6-7 times the yield and is well worth the extra weeks worth of veg. for it to recover .
Whats your thoughts on this frank ? Much respect F.W.F . chk. your rep. do you share any info , insight , tech. on other forums ? t/y or i/c .

Yeah I have not found the topping to be a bad thing on my short squat type indicas but I really blew it trying to bend the branches of them on my last grow. It really reduced the amount of good bud produced on them (with tons of immature budding and a bunch of useless side growth going everywhere)....X-C didn't I hear you talk about that on one of your threads? Would like your input on that. Some other sativa type bagseed did very well with the bending so.... I've always sort of had the idea that these plants are pretty much the same so now have to go back and restudy what will work for what type of plant. God these BLUEBLOODS!

I'd cruise over to the old OG strain reviews if you can find them... urrr... they are kicking around somewhere, lol... gives results for different treatments of the same strain by different growers...
I have have mixed results topping... seems very strain dependent.. the Yeag's MTF didn't like it... The BlueMoonRocks didn't get topped and rewarded me well... the Afghani Dream also grew beautifully as a single cola plant... these are the 3 squattest, fattest plants I've ever grown...internodal distance on all 3 was so short that really I can't imagine how they would have improved unless I gave them obsecene extra veg time... the Yeag's MTF was so fat and stocky that the resulting multiple colas grew into each other...but they were small... i never got to see the finish because I gave her away in a big hurry 3 weeks before harvest... My future approach to any training on these 3 strains is just going to be bending the main stem over diagonally.

Yes that's exactly the kind of info I want......who's done what to what strain and how did it affect them? It is amazing to me how many differences there are amongst this plant!:jointsmile:

you are correct, Crispi -I almost always top my plants, for more bud growth - but, I grow almost exclusively sativa, or heavily sativa-dominant hybrids, which really seem to benefit from topping - height isn't an issue with me, as I have an 8-ft. tall grow cabinet - some indicas I have observed, do not take to topping very well at all - I don't say this as a 'growing rule-of-thumb', only to mention that topping doesn't work for every strain - of the six current 'Sour Jack' plants I have going, I topped only three of them, mostly out of curiosity with this new hybrid - so far, one oddball 'sativa-looking' pheno of these 'Sour Jacks' loved the topping, while the other, more 'indica-influenced', did not really benefit from it at all -
I also visit the HG420 forums, as well as the Treating Yourself website, (where Image Reaper is a 'roving reporter') - neither of those are nearly as active as Cannabis.com, but they do seem to be more populated with adult growers, with much better breeding information, these days - (not nearly as many "where can I buy seeds?", or "do they ship to the USA?" questions over and over again) -
a lot of my growing tips come from, as you know, the Image Reaper - he is still unable to post in here, but we stay in touch since I moved, and I 'relay' some of his better stuff - I try to avoid his rants - nice guy with a good growing background, but a cantakerous old bastard (I'll hear about that, lol) - he also prefers a couple of the other websites, but they are not nearly as active as this Cannabis.com Forum - thanks for all your kind words, keep up the 'good grows' - :jointsmile:

Weedhound I think your talking about 'limbo weed" was too mean to it ? no lst , just a greedy mind w/ topping -fim'ming axen' leaves blocking bud sites instead of tuckin em away . We just yesterday gumby hashed the last 6-8 oz. of that nonsense . lol . 2 big bags of garb. doing nothing for me but sittin around lookin all criminals not cool .

I'm learnin same as you , why I wanted to keep touch w/ all you guys regardless of this site . I'm tryin to sorta "Call frank out" . Theres lots more great minds lurking here and just watchin - I wish the info base here was as huge as O/G was . Ppl. snagging info like were talking about here is sooooooo valuable . It reps. thousands of hrs. of trial and error / exper etc...I was at O/G 2 1/2 years and never so much as signed in / est. user name . Info was there in mass amounts and I was willing to look for it .

master kush is one of my favorites, it responds excellent to topping, lst and scrog. i would asume a mk X would react similarly. my ww's would yeild 14oz on average with my 400hps and my mk was more like 12-13 oz but the quality/potency was better. i always top my plants. imo topping/lst is practically a must with indoor growing, especially with lower wattage grows (400 watts or less) as these lights don't have great penetration. this is how my mk resonded to lots of topping and lst. they were grown to this point under flouros only for about 6weeks from rooting.
