Concerts were usually the best places. For me it was the Fillmore East, the Central Park shows, and others of various types of music in different places. I didn't attend Woodstock, but made it to Watkins Glen New York in the summer of 1973, which featured the Allman Brothers, Grateful Dead, and the Band. That outdoor concert was the biggest on record with 600,000 audience members. I brought a big stash of various high-altitude things for WG.
