ever have your cat eat your plants?

we all know that cats love to chew on plants. i have two cats.. one is full grown, and knows not to mess with my houseplants, marijuana or otherwise, but the kitten on the otherhand, does not know yet...

so i came home last night, and found that he had been munching on one of my plants..

it pissed me off, but what can i do? its a kitten. guess i shouldve seen it coming.
fortunately, it wasnt any of my pot plants.

how do you stop this?
ive always rubbed coffee grounds on the leaves of my plants. they dont like the taste, and learn to leave it alone. ive also heard of people putting tabasco sauce on the leaves.. never tried it but ive heard it works..

trouble with your cat using the planter as a littler box? putting pinecones on top of the soil helps to keep them out. the pinecones hurt the pads on their feet, and they learn quickly to not walk in them..

if you dont want them eating your pot - dont let them into your grow room..

A water sprayer works wonders. A simple quick squirt of water from a sprayer is all it takes when your cat is doing something you don't like.It is a very quick learning tool since you know how much cats love water.Don't abuse it by chasing them around and stuff just observe on a weekend or when ever you are in garden your kitten. When she gets to close or ready to take a bite "squirt".Its not crule and they fig. it out real quick.If you can't do this then I am sure the hot sauce would do the trick.You can make your own by using a variety of hot peppers,some garlic, (mites hate garlic)and some onion.This "tea" should keep the kitten from chewing leaves and also work well against insects.Soft bodied insects get a nice burn sensation and leave garden.Before you spray leaves with tea or your fert or what have you add a drop or two of liquid dishsoap.This acts as a wetting agent "makes water wetter" and will not bead off your leaves.

I remember my dad found my 2 plants. Took them into his room for a couple days (very odd) but they werent budded at all yet. But my sister kept tellin me my dad would keep crackin jokes because our two cats kept chewin on them. Sayin they were kitty stoners or they must be outa cat nip. Pissed me off more then anything!

If you let your cat outside it would be a good idea not to let it in your room for the simple reason it makes a great carrier for pests (mites,etc.).

Definitely find a way to keep them away from your plants. And maybe get them some wheat grass to nibble on instead. Lots of house plants are bad for housepets, but they do feel compelled to nibble on some green at times to aid their digestion. I've managed to keep my cats and dogs out of my plants by putting all my plants and trees places they can't get to--and bringing in specific greenery that they can eat (pet grass, which is wheat grass) and putting that down low where they can get to it. One of my cats is practically a sheep, he eats so much green grass.

Never had a cat eat the plants, but Ive had them get into my closet and knock them over, breaking the stem.
