Totally the key. Some might subscribe to the method in which you disregard keeping a believable facade and instead just assert their rights to not get searched no matter how sure the cop is in his mind you have weed. Both are effective, but I find it's easier to just play the role that will keep the cop's mind the furthest from the notion that you have contraband. The first and often only thing that makes cops suspect you have something illegal is your presentation, whether it's personal appearance or how you carry yourself. If you have the ability, you just need to put your mind where it would be if you had absolutely nothing to hide and see the cop as an honorable and friendly public servant and he won't see you as a criminal that you're not.

That said, I've had a lot of contact with police with pot in my possession and I've never once been issued even a citation. One time I was pulled over for expired tags and I had a loaded bong with water in it in an open pouch on the passenger side floor which I pretty much had to prop up with my hand so it didn't spill bong water while talking to the cop like a normal sober citizen. Another time I had drank like 40 oz. of strong beer and had shrooms and weed in the car and got pulled over for speeding the cop even did the little flashlight eye test to see if I was sober. I guess I passed cuz he didn't pursue the matter. Okay!
