WALNUT CREEK / Belated outrage emerges over Easter Bunny's 2003 name change

Apperently, Walnut Creek, decided to change the name of the Eater Bunny to the "April Bunny" in 2003. And now people are complaining. I'm agonostic, and feel this is retarted. Let there always be an Easter Bunny, a Santa Clause, etc. Who cares...

The same town also has "holiday trees," not Cristmas trees.

Yeah im a firm atheist myself and I think this is freakin' crazy. I mean if a bunny offends you then you have some problems. However I never understood what a bunny and some colored eggs have to do with Jesus coming back from the dead..

It's all metaphor for rebirth...spring being the time when the Earth wakes from it's winter slumber.

Many pagan holidays were coopted by Christianity in an effort to make it easier to convert countrypeople to Christianity. They simply overlaid pagan celebrations with Christian ones.

Eostre (or Eostra) is the Anglo-Saxon goddess of fertility.
