WTF? I never said there was a fuzzy line in respect to toddlers. I said there is a fuzzy line in respect to the age at which immature children become adults mature enough to smoke pot. There is not a single moment in someone's life when they magically become mature, and that fact has very serious implications for how our society ought to react to pot smoking among young people.

Oneironaut, the way I see it is:

18+ should be the legal age to smoke Weed legally (if it was legal).

16+ at the moment is the legal age too smoke a cigarette in the UK, soon too be 18+.

Anyone younger than 15 smoking weed in my eyes is considered irresponsible. I often think of those 2 years between 16 and 18 experimental. I found this is when you really start to form your true self, and try new things. It wouldn't justify smoking under age but it would call for leniency. Then, when you're 18 I feel you're big enough and ugly enough too look after yourself, so it's up to you what you do from there onwards. I'm sure plenty of people here will disagree with my view, but that's the way I see it.

Well, even if we accept some kind of age limit on the consumption of cannabis, say 18 years old, I think we ought to make a distinction between how we treat somebody who gives weed to a 17 year old and someone who gives weed to a 2 year old.

Well I'd say someone who gave weed to a 16 year old is liable to get in trouble but with some leniency. But 15 below they should get full punishment. A similar structure to the way they prosecute a pedophile. Not, the same punishment. Just so there's no misunderstandings.

Are you seriously suggesting that there is a huge ethical difference between offering a joint to somebody who is 17 years and 364 days old and offering somebody a joint on their 18th birthday? I don't think it's that clear-cut.
Okay, lets think about the definition of fuzzy for a minute...

The distinction between a toddler and a 50-year-old, as you used in your post, smoking - NOT fuzzy (and if it is, then your just stupid)

The distinction between a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old smoking - fuzzy.

But you said that this issue brought up the important point of where do we draw that fuzzy line. I mean, that is a good issue to discuss, but when you say it in the context of the rest of your post, it seemed as though you were saying "Well, this is a close call, and the its really close to the point where there is a fuzzy line of distinction."
