Yea i came across an old Sears record player downstairs, its been in the family, but im not sure if ican get it to work, its from the 50s and its a an FM, one of the firstyears they came out, it looks like, perhaps, lol a waise high liquor cabinant.. to show relevance in size. sixspeakers and stuff, problem is, when i put the record player on, it automatically takes the arm back to the starting and turns off. but when i make it go over, it plays the sound fine. who knows.

Is it stereo? Are the electronics vacuum tubes? If so, you might get even better sound from the FM tuner and phono preamp by hooking up a good new (or used) turntable (without the automatic arm-lift), a new cartridge/stylus, and maybe some decent bookshelf speakers - distanced away from the turntable to prevent wow and flutter, rumble, etc. For sound quality, it would probably blow away most of today's popular solid-state CD-based stereo systems.
