If you do go through with it, then I think you should tell the person you are "experimenting" on and have it be a learning experience for the bunch of you. Granted he doesn't rip your heart out when he discovers down the line that you gave him catnip as weed. The humiliation could be too much to bear if he were in a depressive state. I think too much.
