    "Elongating" buds?

I don't know how else to describe this, but high up on some of my BB's it seems that stalks are growing out of the buds, with these thin "elongated" buds growing from the new stalks. I can't say I'm happy about this, the new growth is not dense at all and really weird. On a lot of these elongated portions, there are calyxes every few milimeters, but not the stacking up of calyxes that you'd want to see. At first I thought I might have a hermie problem, but the elongated buds have been here for a few weeks and no 'nanas can be found. They fill out a little bit as time goes on, but they're definitely not the type of dense nuglets that you want.

I suspect that heat stress might be causing this, can anyone confirm? The BB grew a lot higher than I expected (closer to the lite) and this is only occurring near the tops of the plants. The rapid change in climate around here has warmed things up a lot in the grow room. A/C will be going in for the next go-around. I've attached some pics, they're not the best though. Thanks.

    your buddy,
    budluv.

p.s. In the first pic I'm holding onto one of the "elongations", in the second pic one is growing out the bud on the opposite side of the hand, the third pic is a top of a plant that is just full of them.

How old? (5 weeks into flower?) I've seen this on a few very old plants (9-10 weeks into flower), yours look fairly young, maybe not enough fan leaves to support the sugar-rush? btw what are your temps? Just be patient, they pack on the weight very quickly at the end, yours may need an extra week or so on top of what you think you have left.

hey bud, lemme gess; you're feeding with a super phosphate? stop. switch to a light fert, like root stimulator, and suplement with superthrive and molasses.

large amounts of phosphates cause/encourage the stretch.

intreasting, i too have a similiar problem, not as bad tho, My b.b. is kinda actin the same way but only on the top cola, i see my top cola lookin skimpy... and more lower buds look really nice and dense, im not sure why they do this, i raised my lights to see if it was some sort of burn byproduct. They just started to grow more not in bud production but hieght. im hoping they fill out like 4x5 said, but im only at like week 3 of flower. So im alittle behind, my buds look the same sizes not filled out as much. B.B. puts on alot of wieght int he last week or 2 i hear.

the thing that normaly does that is to much nitrogen in flowering also somethimes a light leak but then you have the 1 bladed leaves to go along with it

4x5 - these are about 8 wks into flower. Almost all of the middle and lower buds are pretty much done and look really beautiful and dense. maybe 5% amber trichs on the middle of the plant and down and I want to chop these portions soon. I've been flushing for about 4 days.

KP- As far as my recipe, it's pretty much lucas GH with calmag+, liquid karma and sweet. PPMs were around 1600 before I started flushing. Not sure if that's "super" phosphate, is it?

JDW - Yeah, sounds like you're describing my plants exactly like they were a month ago.

here's a pic of a bud I took off about 4 days ago, just to have something early. All the lower buds look like this, but as you can see the three pics I posted of the tops are pretty ugly in comparison.

    WTF.

I cut the N way back a few weeks ago. They were only getting N from the 5-0-4 GH micro nutes.... 1 bladed leaves to go along with what? a light leak? there isn't a light leak.
It is a little too warm in there though.....

i think you have a heat problem, along with the "funny buds" which i have seen to a much lesser extent about a year ago when one of my fans died and i had heat issues for a week until i got a new 1, you also seem to have alot of dead leaves which is not a good thing either. i can't make a diagnosis about that with the very distorted pics though. maybe you overferted them before you started the flush or maybe you have ph issues causing lockouts. this is just speculation as those are some common mistakes made. the light in the background really makes the pics blurry and the colors distorted. btw, the strain that i saw the "elongated buds" was gypsy's kiss from reeferman and i also had ww growing side by side which never showed the problem. good luck.

    Looks good Bud ,
1 of my 3 b/b looked more green / orange like these pics. of yours and 2 were much more purple pheno. I had a ruff. grow prev. to this 1 caused cause my cheap ass wouldnt buy a p/h pen . Whats happening to your plants here happened to them also , but was from light leaks . I invested in badass lil round 4in. darkroom vents . You said you don't believe you have any leaks though ?
    No clue man ??
    Peace
