light question
Hi all, been lurking for a few weeks, and i think i'm ready to get started.
I'm building my cabinet this weedend, my dimenions are 43in. wide, 29" deep and 68" tall.. I'm shopping around for a light right now and cosidering a digital ballast for stealth ( these are quieter, right?) and for functionality , when they say they accept both MH and hps , can I run at the same time? Is a cool tube possible on a double bulb contraption? I'm guessing it would get to hot in there anyways just kida wondering..
What size light woud you set up in a box of my size?
Thanks for any suggestions

when they say it accepts metal hallide and hps that means its a convertable ballast which it can accept "EITHER" one bulb or the other in order to run 2 bulbs at the same time at least the only way i see it is that the ballast would have to be double the wattage of each bulb. but any ways to answer your question it only accepts one bulb at a time. Also my friend has a digital ballast and it is near silent.

light question
i'm thinking a 600watt hps , i'm getting a 6" fan for exhaust and passive intake , and either a cool tube or vented hood/reflector.
I also was thinking, would it work if i put my fans in a cardboard box, put maybe insulation or something in side the box with the fan, put cover on it and sealit up and cut duct holes in the top and bottom, would this mufflle fan noise?
any input would be appreciated

Hey all,

either a 400 or 600 should work but you should position it in your cab so the light emmited from the sides of the bulb will be lighting the long side of your cabinet so basicly the base of the bulb will be facing the 43 inch side.

thanks all, I plan on growing as many as i can fit in there, enough to keep to smokers satisfied, i will have a seperate veg cab.
Bluntman, that link doesnt work fpr me.
does anyone know which is more effieciant, homemade cooltube, or vented hood/reflector?
typically do you use 2 fans, 1 for exhaust and 1 for cooling the bulb, or can i use 1 fan for both?
Thanks
