my phone sounds like a normal telephone ringing. but i never have it on its ringtone, its always on vibrate. annoying ring tones piss me right the hell off. especially when someone thinks its clever to have inspector gadget or something stupid like that, and then when someone calls them, they whip out their trusty razr and let everyone hear just how cool they think their ring tone is for almost the full length of the song, and then they answer it. good god damn that shit pisses me off. my phone rarely, if ever, makes noises.

some people like listening to the ringtone actually...

i can record things on my phone and set as my ring tone, i recorded the "Smile" video by scarface & tupac thats for (no caller ID)

for roaming i have "1970 Somethin" recorded by notirous b.i.g., the game & faith evans that tells me not to answer it hehe

Mine's the default Motorola Razr low-volume ringtone. Don't need custom ringtones. If I can hear it, that's sufficient. I'm just going to answer it anyway and stop the ringing.

mine goes MEOW and then it goes into a little jingle. my old one roared like a lion and then jingled. I've always used the ring tones that come with my phone, but I try to pick ones that no one else has.
