my rant on commonly used phrases

the following is a list of commonly used phrases that irk me to no end. so stop using them:
1.'good times'- bad grammar. for the love of god, quit stealing the heading from some myspace page and get some originality.
2. 'bat shit'- often used to describe someone/thing that is crazy. excuse me, bat shit, also known as guano, is very useful. call me bat shit and i might take it as a compliment.
3. 'my bad'- bad grammar strikes again. yes, you are bad. and you're even worse for using such a poo-poo sandwich of a phrase to convey an apology. if you want to say 'i'm sorry' , say it. 'my bad' just doesn't cut it. i'll be even angrier if you use this phrase on me.
4. 'what's crackin'/poppin'/hangin'?'- i'm sorry, but my daily affairs do not crack, pop, or hang for any reason at all. i'll settle with 'what's going on?'
5. 'OMG'- just say it, damnit. I have enough acronyms making thier way into my vocabulary and I dont need another. Whenever I hear this phrase, all i can imagine is a twelve year old myspace whore bitching about not getting her period. And i like it when folks use the lord's name in vain.
6. 'that's a bummer'- yes, it certainly is. thanks for stating the obvious. But what exactly is a bummer?
7. 'douchebag'- okay, that's just plain revolting. stop putting dirty pictures in my head.
8. 'Laugh out loud/LOL' -instant message phrases should NEVER, ever, be used in any conversation outside of the computer realm. Not even the acronyms. Not only is it unoriginal, its also way too nerdy for any respectable conversation.
9. 'Like fire'- you can pretty much apply this phrase to anything. However, its almost never used to form a coherent simile. 'You're bright like a fire' is a good way to use this phrase, 'That's awesome, like fire it is!' is not.
10. 'That's hot'- not only has this phrase been used relentlessly like a $5 crack whore, it conjures up the image of Paris Hilton. When I think of Paris Hilton, I want to kill myself and anyone who uses this phrase I immediatly compare to this disgusting, useless piece of shit. Spare your dignity and use another phrase.

other than that, I agree, its just that those phrases are there and available for people to use who arent creative enough to make thier own words

i think alot of these are just the kind of slang used in todays youth, so my question is how old are you?

when people are telling a story and say "so i was all like....." that makes me mad, and filling in spots in the story with blah blah blah. If the story was interesting enugh to tell, tell the whole thing. also people who speak in internet lingo.. ie accualy saying "ROFL!" like it's some hip new word.

the one you seem to have forgotten is "like". saying "like" every three seconds in a conversation drives me freakin' insane. that and "you know" are left overs from that damn valley girl phase that should never have occurred in the first place. 'cause it's like such a bummer, you know.

Some of those piss me off. But anytime I hear people say anything new it just smacks of effort. I don't like when people aren't natural, just say what you are feelin', even if it doesn't sound that hip :thumbsup:
