Finish times Southeast
Does anyone know what should be the approximate finish times in the Southeast US compared to the usual Holland dates? I have not really payed much attention or tracked it specifically, but it seems like it's always somewhat earlier here than what's listed on the breeders pages. I have heard some people say it would be over one full month earlier, but then others say one month later? I am taking about approx. 34 North. in AL.
Also, does anybody know why it's earlier.unclebob Reviewed by unclebob on . not enough outdoor growers here bob, oh well,
it is confusing, the best and clearest explanation is made by Ed Rosenthal in the back of The Big Book of Buds. That book is commonly available at Borders. The flowering is triggered by the number of hours of daylight. The farther north you go the longer the days in summer and the longer the nights in winter. So just throwing out a number, twelve hours of daylight, that will happen at different times of the year in Amsterdam (52n) my midwest (42N) and your location (34N) When you purchase seeds its important to know the latitude location of the grower so that you can make adjustments to when it will finish in your location. The farther south you go, the earlier twelve hours of daylight arrives so the faster the plant finishes. When a plant by an Amsterdam seed breeder is reported to finish in late October, it will finish in late September at the 42n latitude and a week or two earlier at 34n latitude
hope it helps

would just use the dates given as a guide as to whether its early or late flowering but they should start flowering sooner the further south you are as nitepharmer mentioned, however I would not expect it to finish much quicker 2-3 weeks at most for the plant to reach a similiar stage of development.
as per when you harvest it is more personal preference and you could easily harvest 4-5 weeks earlier or let the buds mature longer and harvest only one week earlier than the given finish date.
