One of the common side effects to new users of cannabis is anxiety/paranoia. Just don't think about it when you smoke. Instead, surround yourself in a very calm environment. Get with people you are comfortable with. Listen to some music that you enjoy. Light some incence to lighten the mood.

If it becomes to be too much to handle, your body is trying to tell you something, so I figure if you don't enjoy it, then don't do it.
