Cheap Grow Lights

You're going to spend just as much money on CFL's and other stuff when you could've bought the HPS that I'm using right now. I was stubborn and wanted to go the cheapest way when I first started. If I would've listened to everyone, I could've had nice buds on the first try. Instead, I spent a hundred dollars or so on CFL's that I ended up using around the house rather than in my closet. Trust me, just get a couple CFL's for veg and buy a HPS man.

I do want that HPS but like I said I just don't have the money for it right now. I'm just gonna wait until I can just go ahead and spend my own money..

you get what you pay for...here's my last CFL grow...plant turned hermie, but female buds didn't ever fill in. (6) 26w CFL's..10,500 lumens.

should get a job bro...only way to make money. I don't know what I'd do without one...I definately wouldn't be smoking every day though. Nor, would I probably have my grow equipment.

Lol well my set up is not anything like that. I have way more space than that. And I've seen a lot of successful CFL grows, like this for example so I'm still not gonna let it stir me away from trying. Like I said I will eventually get an HPS and if not that I might get some fluorescents...I know what I need but for right now I'm dealing with what I have/ I finally got some soil and some pots and a new lock for the door so certain people won't be able to just walk in when ever they want. I still need a few more things and I'll be taking off..maybe I'll have it all near the middle of this month .

edit: I mean I'm a stoner, it's not like I'm growing to sell or anything lol. I only need my own personal stash..hell if I get even 19g I'll be satisfied.

To be honest, I think something went wrong with that plant other than it turning herm. I've personally grown with less lumans and yielded with far better looking buds than that.

The only real downfall to HPS is the fact that you can't grow with it by itsself through the vegetative stages. Thus you are inclined to have a seperate setup for vegetative growth. That can get quite expensive. Having the money to do that is awesome!

In which case people who can afford to do it should be supported in thier efforts but so should the people who cannot afford extravegant setups or who wish to attempt a smaller scale project.

You can and will get great cannabis from CFL lighting. You just have to know what your doing in terms of botony.

Eventually we'll all end up with a sweet setup with an HPS system intertwined with the Fluorescent lighting. HPS is great, but the two together are just pure genius.

Well yea, but then you still have to buy all that "other stuff"...

So now your spending what it would cost TOTAL for the CFLs and all the "other stuff" on ONE LIGHT...

this simply isnt true, i have never used a MH bulb or CFL bulb for veg, the trick is to get the light extremely close as possible without burning the tops, i never had a plant stretch during veg.

Yeah. I have seen quite a few HPS grows from seed to finish.

i just got a 400w hps set up for 140 dollars (including the shipping cost of 37 dollars or so) off of ebay, you want linkage?

Lol well my set up is not anything like that. I have way more space than that. And I've seen a lot of successful CFL grows, like this for example so I'm still not gonna let it stir me away from trying. bob seems like he's got a lot under his belt, but good luck with CFLs...I love them for veg, but will never use them again for flower...takes way too many of them to keep lower parts of the plant happy...One HPS bulb is much more to my liking.
