Thanks for answering my questions guys!
One more:
Do you guys think on a smaller HydroHut, like the 3x3 mini version, ventilation would be a problem for larger lights? For example, would a 400w HPS be alright with just a passive intake and a 4" 175 cfm exhaust fan without a cooltube? Or is a cooltube pretty much a necessity for one of these things? Thanks again! Rep points added where needed.

hey, I use a 1KHPS in a air cooled HOOD, not a tube, so i think you can just get away with anything you want. As long as its sealed from the hut, i think you be fine.

Actually I would not be terribly surprised if you could get away with just the exhaust fan and passive intake with a 400. At worst, you would have to add an air-cooled hood, but meh, that's not too huge an additional expense if you already have an inline fan.

I really don't know. I've never worked with one. I've never taken the glass off of mine. I have 2 inline fane one for exhause and one for the lamp. I dont know how much heat the glass saves.
Stinky?

I think you could even get away with a single fan... run the exhaust intake through your scrubber if you have one... then the hood... then out... keeping the temperature inside the hood only slightly elevated over the ambient temps inside the tent, and sending the lamp heat directly out... Just a thought... I used to control my temps with a window a/c... kinda primitive...hahaha
