help me build my first bong!

hah sorry,I just picked up a half oz and smoked up, and I'm high.
I've been smoking outa a lil glass bowl for most of it, but suddenly I've got a complete urge to build my own bong. I got all the pieces, the main part for it I took from my gf, it's made out of ceramic.
I took the top of a metal bowl and attached it to two pen caps for a perfect fit for the stem. Now I need to get a hole in the ceramic, clay, or w/e the "vase" is, at an angle for the stem. I've never constructed a piece myself before, and I only got one shot, so I don't want to ruin it.
What should I use to create the hole, and I'm hoping to use a slide, but I don't think it will be airtight, so where do I put a carb? The bowls metal so not in the bowl, IDK where to on the bong.

You'll want to put the bowl in the middle of that navy blue stripe (2nd stripe from the bottom), so to make a hole, you will need a drill and drill bit. You'll have to drill at a slight angle to get it to fit right, so you'll need a steady hand or drill press.

If you make a carb hole, there is no need to make the bowl a slide then. Either the bowl is a slide and you use that to clear the bong, or you set the bowl perm. in place and drill a small carb hole.

For the carb hole, I would drill a small hole straight in, in the middle of the yellow stripe towards the top.

I understand that, but I was saying I'd prefer a slide, but I didn't know if it would be airtight enough, so if that didn't work out I'd try a carb.

Urgh, and I can't seem to find my drill I was going to use anywhere, are there any viable alternatives?

okay thanks no chowder, I finished making it, took my forst bong rips ever, and I'm really stoned :stoned:. Wow, it hits amazing and is home made =] I love it. Post finished pics in a lil.

Fairly certain no. Anything else would shatter/break a big ugly hole in the material... depending what the material is. Can't tell :jointsmile:

WEll there are many things you can do if you want an airtight slide. You can rap the slide with electric tape until it fits firmly. Or my personal favorite, Silly Putty works wonders on bongs. IF you are gonna make a carb make it lower to the bowl. It is from my understanding, it clears and rips harder when its closer to the slide
