I ask this question:

I have a family member who has a nano, and I helped this person sync it with her laptop and put some songs on it from her CDs. Then she told me the other day that she had a DJ friend of hers put a "bunch of songs (~400)" on it, but it deleted the songs she had on it. She wanted me to show her how to put her songs back on it.

I told her that I "thought" that the DJ that put all that music on it probably somehow sync-ed it with his computer and if she was to try to re-sync it with hers, it would erase the files or something.

Does anyone understand what I'm saying? Can you help me or verify or deny what I'm saying?? Please. Thanks.

Unless she used a program like Ephpod to pull the tracks off of the ipod, then she prolly doesn't have a copy of her own to use. Itunes isn't setup to let you pull tracks off of the ipod to the computer for piracy issues.
