    Questionable growing space-fiberglassland

I was looking above my cooking herb/flower grow closet and I noticed a little hatchway looking thing in my ceiling of my walk-in closet. So I went into the garage and got out a latter, climbed up there, undid the latches and boom! A giant spider came out and bit me right in the face! Actually nothing jumped out but what I did find was a questionable grow area. There is a nice area with absolutely no fiberglass or ceiling supports around it. The only problem is that it is basically a fiberglass insulated attic thing that looks like it is a complete fire hazard. That is hard wood on the floor. I am a good electrician and have never had anything spark or anything in wiring 4 different CFL rigs.

    I am thinking 4 lowryders in a shallow bubbler (18 gallon rubbermaid with 10" airstone/Tetra 40gallon airpump) with 2 30w and 1 23w CFL.

So what do you think? Instant burned down house or no?

I was thinking I could line the fiberglass around the bulbs with a material that is somewhat heat resistant and I will also have a fan cooling the little CFLs/plant. There are two areas that are 3'x2'x46"-32".

Sounds like a bad idea to me only because you would probably get fiberglass in your buds from the ventilation to keep them cool. Don't wanna smoke fiberglass do you? Good luck though

How about I put a filter on the intake and the exhaust? I would put a actual air filter on the intake and a carbon scrubber on the exhaust. I can also get an air purifier and stick that up there with the grow. I mean an air intake and exaust beause I think that I might do a rubbermaid box grow box from http://boards.cannabis.com/growroom-...b-growbox.html
It would solve my problem of fiberglass in the air and I could also control how the heat is distributed better.

What about simply tacking plastic sheeting over the fiberglass? That would reduce fiberglass dust in the air significantly. Make that white reflective plastic and kill 2 birds with one stone.

    Vacuum well.

Then let a LOUD boombox play up there for a day or 2 while a fan sucks the dusty air out and blows it outside.

An air filter on the intake wouldn't hurt.

I would not hesitate to use that space to do a CFL ScrOG after taking care of the fiberglass dust.

I always thought fiberglass was fire resistant. To a certain point that is. I'm a bit leary about putting the plastic up there, since you get get moisture behind it and that could lead to a serious mold problem which is something very nasty to get rid of. And as for the floor, it looks to me like what you see there is the upper side of your drywall ceiling. So, I wouldn't put much weight on that or else you are gonna have a big surprise in the room below. You could very easily build a floor from rafter to rafter using some plywood, and that would solve your problem. But I definitly wouldn't set anything on the drywall. But otherwise, this looks like a really good place to grow

At 7% RH, I don't think I need to worry about mold. I am going to need to be raising the RH as much as I can. In my grow room right below my MJ grow, the RH is about 15% and that is with 2 bubblers, a bucket of water, and some soil plants. My point is that its hard for me to get past 40% RH even if I try (so no moisture)
