yo guys. i've been to bonnaroo the last 4 years and plan to keep going every year as long as possible. i bring at least 2 oz's every year and always just stuff it in my sleeping bag. they've never searched my car and i'm usually rollin in a suburban with several other people (mostly severely baked after the 14 hour drive, lol). the only thing they really care about is glass; dont bring it. they'll make u open any cooler u have and pull out any glass bottles, etc. then again, in past years people who bring glass have worked to our advantage as the guys checking the cars run around handing out bottles and tell u to just throw them in the grass between the lanes of cars before u get in.

bonnaroo is an awesome festival that i hope i never have to miss. the lineups r always good and there r always surprise artists that just show up on stage at random times that no one knew was coming. "security" is more likely to smoke with u than fuck with u. tru story from last year: there's a checkpoint when u go into centre-roo(area where all the stages are, seperate from the campgrounds) i had on boardshorts, sandels and a bandana. there was one pocket in the thin boardshorts in which i had a 1/2 oz and a double blown(fairly large) pipe. the security guy patted the one pocket, cruched the bag around, smiled, felt around the piece, smiled again and said 'have a good night'. u really dont have anything to worry about down there. if u dont go, ur missin out on a great time.

for u first timers, something u wont find on the official schedule is that at 420am and 420pm behind the "movie tent"(u'll find it on the map u'll be givin at the gate) there's always massive community smoke-outs every 12 hours, every day of the festival. it's a friendly community that is extremely good at sharing:thumbsup:

hope to see u guys there. stay safe.

From my experience at festivals (I have never been to Bonaroo) most security doesnt care about weed, the only time I have ever seen security say anything to a dealer was when he was trying to sell coke around all t-shirt vendors and shit. Most cases where people get cought with weed they were probably doing something stupid to get in trouble and then the cops just use the weed to keep them.

In my opinion, there are plenty of other festivals that are not only CHEAPER, but not as crowded, as Bonnaroo. I'm just not a fan of the emerging mainstream appeal it continues to give off, and would much rather go to a more laid-back atmosphere with better music. Bonnaroo is the Coachella of the midwest......a joke now-a-days.

The Police? Tool? Please. Festivals like All Good, Funk Fest, and 10KLF are MUCH better, and always will be. Sure The Roo has some great acts scheduled, but they also have some acts that are terribly out of place. Tickets are an arm and a leg, and it's not really worth it considering the other options out there. Plus the Roo doesn't have Leftover Salmon...an act that would NEVER stray from their roots.

But to all those that do go: be safe, and enjoy live music. I'll see y'all at the REAL festivals this summer. ~

I would have to say that bonnaroo has really changed over the past few years. The first blow was going corporate, now the entire vibe of the festival has changed. If your looking for a good festival check out 10KLF.com, its a great time.

I'm going to Bonnaroo for the first time this year, and does anyone know what the security is like? The website says they search all the cars, but is it really that extensive? I plan on bringing some "supplies" to use, and trade, so I wouldn't want to get caught. I have heard once you get inside it doesn't really matter what you do. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? The line up is awesome I can't wait.
