These are only in the Sky Harbor airport right now. TSA has not purchased them anywhere else, in fact the one in Phoenix is on loan, Its 100,000.

And you dont have to go thru the backscatter Xray. If you fail the metal detector you have the option of xray or pat down.

So, just dont fail the metal pass and you're fine.

I've heard DC and NY will get them next, but nothing yet. The cost may be to prohibitive, along w/ public outcry. Its a strip search, no matter how you slice it.

I work w/ TSA daily, some are saying that they may not use them at all and instead go to more of a "where are your travel papers" routine.

Finally, they have to "blur" out sensitive areas, meaning if you crotch it good and tight, they aren't going to see it anyhow.
