Ever had mono?
You, sir, don't have the foggiest notion of what you're talking about. As Sam pointed out, you can indeed become deaf from nearly any type of infection, and mono's a particularly good virus to do that because it infects the throat, ears, eustachian tubes, and all the supporting glands and nerves that supply that area. Deafness doesn't happen very often nowadays as a result of mono, but it can. And it doesn't have a thing in the world to do with immune response. Rather with the severity of the infection. (Measles, mumps and chickenpox are other viral infections that have the potential to cause deafness as well.)
