My expensive pretty girly thing is underwear. Chantelle and, if I'm really feeling impractical, La Perla.
Okay, the problem I have with that is that a car (or motorcycle, whichever) is a status symbol, and is usually a very obvious indication of social class, and this is something that people do desire. Also, the cars are higher quality.

However, purses and sunglasses and things of that sort are just small possessions, and do not always signify anything. And you can find a pure that will last for ages and is perfectly cute, but doesn't have some letters on it, so it is not for the quality.

I just...don't understand why having a purse with certain letters on it is better than having one with other certain letters.

Its the brand, and I LOVE IT, im going to save to buy it. Besides, its not that expensive, ive seen purses in the thousands, $3000 for the signature Chanel bag. Plus ive wanted my sunglasses for over 6 months and I finally got them.

But its just a splurge, its not like everything in my closet is designer. all of my shirts are $15 or under, except one pirate t shirt that I love which was $30 only because it came from disneyland. and my pants arent that much either, the standard $20-$40

Actually, where I live, purses and sunglasses, along with brand of clothers indicate your social class. I live in a place I hate, where if you dont wear this or have that, your not "popular" but just like everywhere else, you adapt to your surroundings and either want one to have, or want one to say "yes, I have one"

It may not be THAT expensive, but I have much better things to spend 300 dollars on --> my bills.

But I do understand splurging, and again I am not saying there is anything wrong with it, we just splurge in different areas.

I know a lot of girls who save up for months and months to buy things, and in cases such as that, it is certainly not an indication of class. It is an indication of an overwhelming desire to fit in, even when a budget does not readily allow it.

I was raised in a family that believes in living below our means, however, and the only situation in which my parents actually spent whatever they wanted was their cars, so maybe I am biased towards that.

That may be true, as you said, we all splurge in different areas. As you have your cars, I have my purse. for now, my parents are the ones with the bills, so I dont have to worry about those for a while now.

Yeah, I was there two years ago. Bills make me feel like I am really doing something with my life though, like I may actually feel like an adult some time soon. I kind of like having bills....just not paying them

Id say you like the responsibility, not the money that comes out of your pocket

Yeah. I like feeling like I am finally running my own life, but I wish it came with its own little money tree.

Now, it would be really kick ass if it came with a tree that happened to grow money AND bud.
