IT sounds like your other environmental conditions are fine... it's when it is very cold that overwatering is the MOST dangerous.
I used to drill additional drain holes up the sides of my pots so they would drain better, but that is not totally necessary.
Unless you already have a root problem, which it doesn't look like from the pics, flushing is not going to lead to the whole drowning thing... just let them drain and put them back.
