That is your rep indicator, to turn it on go to user cp, edit options, and check the box "show my reputation level"....if it turns red...you need to behave, if it turns green, you are an accepted member and deserve to smoke one.

I still do not understand this "reputation level" stuff. Is this the red circle next to my name? I have no idea what this means, so I tried to turn it off. I've never even had a "warning", much less been banned.

Also, what does "you currently have (insert number) reputation points" mean? Is this good or bad? What does "reputation" mean on a message board?

Red dot's mean "neg rep"
green dot's mean "positive rep"

Neg rep will subtract from your rep points, while good rep will add points.

The more points you get, the more green dot's you get. The formula however is lost on me.

The red circle indicates you are surfing the board incognito,,,you have the the option enabled in your CP...

"Use Invisible ModeInvisible mode allows you to browse the forums without appearing in the 'Currently Active Users' lists."
