The pic I've uploaded is my plant on 1/10/2007...about fifteen or twenty days before it was hacked down for being a monster that wouldn't give me any smoke..but it was doing fine...as were the others in my previous grows...This is most likely a burn, but it is attributed to me upping the dose of ferts to correct N def...This plant was about two months from seed..did fine...just was shitty mexican genetics..I was using shultz 5-30-5 daily with 16 ounces of water...the bb certainly doesn't seem to like that much ferts though..Another thing is that even with drain holes, I wouldn't feel comfortable giving them such an amount of water that it would go out the bottom..

Again I'll mention that the previous two grows in the end when I dug soil out of my buckets to wash them I did not have any sort of soggy mess...was moist soil from the day before...nothing excessive, roots filled the entire bucket..I know no drainage is very unorthodox, but the only reason I still avoided punching holes in the bottom again is the successful growth of my previous plants in the same manner..

thanks weedhound...well, I actually ended up with about a bowl. That was before my plant really went hermie bad...I thought it was going to be pretty good..and here are a couple more pics from around that time..the days after this though...the plant turned at least 3/4 male...it nearly halted production of female flowers and started making nasty nanners...with picking hundreds of male shits off each day...the plant went to hell...it grew though, and would've been fine had it not went hermie bad on me.

Seeing how well that plant grew...maybe you guys can understand my confidence..To be very honest and rather noob-ish...when I started this grow in february..I was unaware that PH was something of concern in soil..I always thought that was only affiliated with hydro...I'm much more aware of it now..I've done some reading about it..

yeah, I hated it...and I'm just hoping my 85 degrees isn't going to influence hermies for these next couple days before the cool tube gets here. Topped plant is gaining diameter on the new main stalks...will be showing preflowers soon. The other two show female preflowers...

I guess the good thing about waiting this little while for the cool tube is that in this time..my plants have gotten a lot more undergrowth in and I think it'll be better for my yield...I love how quickly they grow

I'm looking for some advice about my situation....well, this is my topped plant, you can see how the two main tips have shot up some..I was told by crispi I would see stretching pretty good...I would guess this is what he was talking about...they've stretched a lot...now, what can I expect once I start 12/12..? Flowers will pop out and how well will this 250HPS do for that? will bud development be good..? Other plant's growth tips are basically stretching too..light's like 15" away..

p.s...the topped plant was topped 15 days ago on 3/10.

mark, i'd try to get that hps closer, 12 inches is great, it'll help reduce the stretch dramatically. as for the 12-12 stretch, you can expect at least a double height stretch. it will be about two weeks before you start noticing any bud mass, another week or two more for the first trichs.

deff continue to feed with your veg nutes, as these guys can go chloro realy quick. i recomend veg nutes for the first two weeks of flower.

also, if you can, cool it down in there a little; they look like they are too warm. mine like temps in the sixties, and anything below...

hope that helps, and looking great!

yeah scarlet, I've been warned over and over about temps...85 Nothing I can do about it right now except for when I'm in here, I keep the door open...it allows for a bit more air to get in there...I found the exhaust duct nearly useless..at least until my cool tube arrives. Which should be very soon..cool tube will let me keep it lots closer with the light being closer it makes me nervous given they're already physically showing stress...I've had hermies past two grows..probably mainly cause of heat issues..I would hate for that to happen again. Could you give me any idea how much stress is too much? or does it vary too much..? Hard to adequately ventillate my closet..I've got everything done right now that I can..

also could you maybe speculate if my stretching atm..and possibly any stretching through flowering at some point will affect my bud production? from what I understand orange spectrum is really good for fruiting/flowering...and not so good at veg..will it be comparably better at encouraging flowers?

as for stress, there's realy no mathematical equation or anything, but continual abuse is a true ticket to herms. being that you have not started flowering yet, you should be ok, if you can get the temps down. the cool tube will help by about ten degrees, imo, and will have you at almost ideal.

as for the flowering, the hps will not do you wrong; compared to cfl's, it's like comparing a finger to a fist; biiiiig difference.

and as for the prestretch, it may actually help you; you see, bb is not yeild restricted meaning the top cola's will be comparaitve to a single cola of an untopped plant. with this nature, the side buds grow nicely as well if they get adequate light. the stretch will put less foliage in the way of the lower sites, increasing your overall yeild. dont be surprised if you don't get rock hard density out of them; mine are rather fluffy and stretched, even under a 1000w.

    hope this helps.

scarlet, thank you so much...big big help in telling me exactly what I need to know..the side buds..if you're talking about the other bud sites..should get good light..I bent my plants over a bit more today when I drilled holes in the bottom for drainage..

your knowledge is a tremendous help to me
