I agree. Popping bud means it wasn't flushed on its nutrients, or you may be smoking a seed. Those are usually the 2 main reason why cannabis snaps and crackles.

If the weed looked clean, it wasn't laced. It would need a lot of 'foreign substance' of that type to have a noticable effect. Stop making rediculous statements, peoples.

Sometimes when weed is bone dry, it can crack, or at least that's with my experience.
