    Dang! Spider mite!

I was just about to harvest my EB .... I got one of them there new fangled microscope from Radio Shack and was checking it out because the leaves were this unusual purple color .... and low and behold .... I could see one of the devils ..... This lady was going to be harvest so I put her out on the pouch .... it's 21 outside ..... how long will it take to freeze the bastard to death?

I checked out the other ladies and so far no mites .... I will have to keep a close eye on them.

    Thanks in advance ...:hippy:

If you got 1 you got others, too. Don't put the plant outside to freeze. Take all the plants and blast the lil' bastards with a sprayer full of water. Since you are about to harvest I would'nt use any type of insecticide even if it's organic. If you have any in the veg state you should spray them with neem oil.

Thanks for the post .... question .... wouldn't the mite freeze long before the plant? I mean what kind of temp can a mite survive in?

    Thank you for your time.

A mite can go to a dormant stage in the soil. It's kind of like a blanket to them.I hope like hell you got all of them! They will reap havoc on your grow! Start with the neem oil in the veg state. They only seem to start doing their damage while in flower. They love that HPS bulb.

I doubt I will get all of them if they can go into the soil, but I will keep a close eye .... I don't like the idea of the neem oil, I found this recipe that is not toxic to humans and you can smoke almost right away ... check it out ...

"For growers who distrust anything commercial, try an ??herbal tea? that acts as a miticide. To each quart of water use a tablespoon each of ground cinnamon, ground clove and 2 tablespoons of ground Italian seasoning. Heat the mixture until it starts to simmer, then turn off the heat. Add 2 tablespoons crushed fresh garlic when the water cools to warm. Let the tea sit until it cools. Strain and save the water using a cloth or coffee filter. Add a few drops of liquid soap or dishwashing liquid to the water. It is ready to be sprayed on the leaf undersides. After spraying the mites off with water, spray it on the leaf undersides. It will eliminate the mites if it is sprayed every three days after the wash. Within two weeks the mites will probably be gone. "

Neem oil is organic! I did'nt tell you to use it now. I said that you should start using it in veg. and to blast them with water.
