Beware!! I had to call the cops today!

Let me give you a back story as to whats going on and why I called the police. Its kinda long but very important that you guys read it.

A couple days ago this guy on yahoo contacted my mom and was telling her about this great part time job. He told her all she had to do was cash a check and she got 300 bucks and was to wire the rest of the to someone in the UK. Well she thought it was a great thing and told me about it. I knew it was a scam from the start but I went along with it. I once before been almost scammed with a similar tactic. I wanted to try and get this guy busted and I hope that it works.

Today I recieved a check for $2,850. I called the bank it was from and got conformation that it was a FAKE check. I then called the police to notify them that someone was doing this. I also contacted the company that the check said it was from and notified them. They have recieved many calls about fake checks being made out on their behalf. I was patched through to the president of the compnay and left him a voice mail. I gave him my name and number and told him that the police would be stopping by my house to take a report, and for him to call me back if he wanted any of the information that I had saved from my contacts with this guy.

You see this is what happens. If you get the check and cash it and then wire it to the guy in the UK you are screwed. A few days later the bank finds out its a fake check and guess what. You have to pay the whole amount of the check back to the bank. So if I wouldnt have know better I would have owed the bank $2,850. People who are in need of money will be blind sighted and not realize they are being scammed.

People like this guy make me sick. They should be in prison. Think of poor old grandma living on social security who falls for something like this. Or the single mother just wanting to provide for her baby. Or the teenagers looking to make a buck.

I just wanted to get on here and post this so no one else can fall victim to this scums scam. Someone in the US is the one making out the checks and they are just as bad and deserve to be busted, and locked up.

Has anyone else on here been contacted about these kind of scmas?

Because they are theives. They are stealing money. If I would have cashed the check I would have had to pay it back in turn they would have gotten almost 3 grand of my money. Thats stealing and its wrong. Their are people who dont know about it and are naive. Many people have done it already. If it would have happend to you, Im sure you would love to kick their ass, and see them get arrested. In my opinion its the same as robbing people.

I was just going to post a Nigerian Email scam that I got yesterday in my hotmail account, but am afraid that someone will be taken in, lol.

Here's a site with some typical examples:

Beware!! I had to call the cops today!

Every time I try to sell one of my cars, always an overseas guy tries to do this. Last time the car was 3500 and he sent me a 7500 check - said keep 5 grand. knowing this was too good to be true, I actually got the money from the check and put it in a separate savings account and waited.. dude was panicky for like a week, must have racked up 100s of dollars calling me, talking as I explained they put a hold on it - then all of a sudden he disappeared. Like clockwork, the bank called after about 2 weeks and said NSF on the cashiers check. I went to my branch and explained what I had done, and gave them back 100% of the cash - the manager laughed his ass off and said that these checks have become a huge issue.

My point exactly. If they get caught they should be charged with check fraud, and larceny theft. Just think if only 2 people a day or a week or month even cashed $2,850 and kept 300, so that means that they wire 2,550 each, that guy gets 5,100, thats not his money in the first place. He gets free money. I hope he gets gangreen in his nutts.

It's stealing. Old people are constantly falling vitim to these kind of things because they are to trust worthy. Why should anyone be screwed out of thousands like that. The people who do it are scum and deserve to be locked up.

We got one pretty much just like this. "Just cash the check and send it back to us"..that was the part that got us to call. Called the bank the check was cut from (not the number on the check) and they said they had a pile of them sitting in a room and they get them in every day.
Some people are scum. I hope they get whats comming to them.
