shoplifting.....
fuck.... i got arrested for stealing 5$ worth of chicken on a bet. now they are trying to charge me with attempted burglary. is that possible?(im in california). when i was being arrested the cop said you are under arrest for "petty theft", so it seems like somthin is weird here, but, on the california law site says: "any person who enters any house, room, apartment, tenement,
shop, warehouse, store, mill, barn, stable, outhouse or other
building, tent, with intent to commit grand or petit
larceny or any felony is guilty of burglary. so fuck, any idea whats gonna happen. i already have a misdemeanor for sending a fake bomb threat to school(please dont ask, long long time ago idiotic, i know) but i served the probation and completed it. im still a juvenile. any ideas?jfoster Reviewed by jfoster on . shoplifting..... fuck.... i got arrested for stealing 5$ worth of chicken on a bet. now they are trying to charge me with attempted burglary. is that possible?(im in california). when i was being arrested the cop said you are under arrest for "petty theft", so it seems like somthin is weird here, but, on the california law site says: "any person who enters any house, room, apartment, tenement, shop, warehouse, store, mill, barn, stable, outhouse or other building, tent, with intent to commit grand or petit Rating: 5

IT will still be a misdemeanor I would think. In order for it to be a felony it would have to be over a certain $ amount. Your still gonna get some kind of charge though. As far as getting out of it. I am not sure. Did you get caught red handed?

Now it is all about damage control. Start getting your story together and get some legal advice.

I think it's up to the store to press charges. A lot of places claim to presecute all shoplifters so you may be f*cked

Very stupid on your part.
A $500 dress or a $5 piece of chicken, theft is theft my friend, no matter how large the numbers are.
So yes, they might charge you, but if you do have to stand before a judge, plead guilty, and they might just toss it out the window if you have no previous charges. I don't mean you'll go through trial, but what usually happens is you get charged with a crime, in your case, theft, and you have to stand before a judge and plead guilty or not guilty, if you plead guilty, it may go to trial, but like I said, admit to this foolish mistake and just take the charge, and there is a good chance they will forget it.
Try and get out of it, and you'll have a charge on your record for stealing chicken. Not too bright man.
Get your friends to take their own chicken.

When I worked at the grocery store, we would wait for people to walk through the doors with what they were stealing and the cop would be waiting outside for them. We always had a cop on duty.
It prob won't be to bad for you, but you get what you get. Next time have more sense and don't do something stupid like that because someone "dared you."
Was it a double dog dare... my god...
