Whats the best way to water plants? Spray bottle? If not is it ok to sprinkle them with your fingers and is it best to feed them during the light or dark or both? And how many times a day?

plus... I water my plants now but i know they probably need some other nutrients. i saw somewhere that fish food was good? true or false? other substitutes? Or is water sufficient?
