Gotcha - I didn't see that MSNBC show - although I just tried this on a new Schlage deadbolt, and seems like I could do it.. nothing is mounted so I can't really smack it hard enough, and I don't want to try it on my door lol.

I agree with the broadcasting of the method - totally irresponsible - but the solution is in the knowledge, and I had never heard of this. Maybe thats one of the reasons why hotels have started using those electronic card locks recently. At any rate, just thought its better to know than not know - especially since it has become such widespread knowledge.

Not trying to panic anyone, or ruffle feathers and if posting this was inappropriate then please by all means, someone delete it. It just shocked me and I'm glad I know now, figured most people would rather know..
