What price survival?
Why does emotional contentment always seem to take second place?

Surely, life is about forfillment and enlightenment, pleasure and experience, learning and teaching...instead of which, it seems to be more about treading on our fellow man to reach the top of some imaginary mountain, of which the only beneficiary seems to be the one who has used his fellow man as footholds and steps.

We have forgotten what the meaning of life is, and wrongly assume that it is about 'survival of the fittest'.

There are those who genuinely need our help and encouragement - but there are also those who prey upon the system for their own selfish gain and prosperity...
I agree in that aspect. Life of course should be about happiness and living symbiotically with your fellow humans. However, the reality of life is that people are not symbiotic, and will most likely crush other human spirits for their own gain.
That very idea sometimes upsets me, especially when I am the victim, but I refuse to let it get me down. Life is all in how you look at it. Sure, shitty things happen to people all the time. It's a fact of life. Nothing we do will ever change that. But how we handle that constant, is what makes our life the way it is.
I've been there. When I lived in Philadelphia, I was unemployed, broke, and near-starving. But I made it. I did whatever it took to get me out of the hole. Took some time and endured some real suffering... Now... I'm doin great. I never lost sight of the fact that I can manipulate my life if I truly want to.
